Senior Surveyor

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role requires extensive expertise in land surveying, particularly within oil sands plant operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with laser scanning, including the ability to add coordinate control to laser scans, work independently, and deliver high-quality results while prioritizing safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead surveying operations for oil sands plant projects, including layout, topographic, boundary surveys, and laser scanning.
- Operate and maintain modern survey equipment, including GPS, total stations, and laser scanners, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
- Perform laser scanning and integrate coordinate control into scans to deliver precise 3D models and datasets.
- Analyze survey data to create accurate maps, plans, and reports using industry-standard software.
- Work independently to execute projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
- Ensure all survey activities comply with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks on all survey deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently in the field.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of land surveying experience, with specific expertise in oil sands plant operations.
- Proven experience with laser scanning equipment.
- Proficiency in survey software.
- Strong understanding of geospatial technologies and data processing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote or challenging environments.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to industry standards.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Work Schedule and Benefits:
- Fly-in/Fly-out: Air travel to site provided from Calgary or Edmonton.

- Schedule: 4 days on (Monday to Thursday, 10+ hours/day), 3 days off.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Laser Scan Technician to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience operating Leica laser scanners, strong expertise in photogrammetry, and a deep understanding of point cloud processing and control integration. This position requires the ability to work independently in a safety-first environment while delivering high-quality results.
This is a fly-in/fly-out position, with flights and camp accommodations provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain Leica laser scanners for a variety of projects, including oil sands plant operations.
- Perform laser scanning and work with surveyors to integrate coordinate control into scans to produce accurate 3D models and datasets.
- Utilize photogrammetry techniques to create high-quality digital models and support project needs.
- Process point clouds and photogrammetry data using industry-standard software, ensuring precision and quality in deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges with laser scanning and photogrammetry equipment and software.
- Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams, surveyors, and engineers to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of fieldwork, equipment usage, and data collection processes
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Laser Scan Technician or in a related role.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining Leica laser scanners and associated software.
- Strong experience in integrating coordinate control into laser scans and managing point cloud data.
- Familiarity with software such as Leica Cyclone, AutoCAD, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work independently in remote or challenging environments.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Experience working in oil sands plant environments is a strong asset.
